Sandy Point, Little Alligator River

Today is a part hang-out, part travel day -- we can't leave until our new credit cards arrive.

The day started  with a wonderful yogurt, fruit and coconut compote followed by chocolate chip pancakes with bacon -- Georgiana is a very good cook and it was a very filling breakfast -- if you are ever in Elizabeth City, be sure to spend a night at the Grice-Fearing House B&B -- you will thoroughly enjoy it.

The breakfast presentation
The B&B was full of cutesy stuff -- Sue particulalry liked these lambs
I stayed at the B&B awaiting the cards while Sue decided to use the time do a load of wash. She went back to the boat to pick up the dirty laundry, soap, etc. -- Gus was there with his entourage; bless his southern gentleman heart, he offered to take Sue to and from the laundromat, considerably simplifying this laundry run.
Waiting for the credit cards
The credit cards arrived about 12:15 and Sue had already returned to the boat by the time I arrived; we were off the dock and on our way by 1pm or so, fully refreshed from our B&B stopover.

It was a partly cloudy day and the wind was out of the SouthEast, on our nose as usual. We motorsailed down the Pasquotank, across Albemarle Sound and into the Alligator river -- a total of about 32 miles. It was after 6pm by the time we entered the river and we needed to anchor for the night -- according to our "Skipper Bob" anchoring guide, the nearest choice was right inside the river entrance. It was exposed to the North and East but the forecast was for a pretty calm night with light SE winds and some showers possible, so we "made do" and dropped the hook.

Scene from the Pasquotank, on the Coast Guard Air Station just outside of Elizabeth City.
World's largest wooden building, used for blimp maintenance; the trees give a sense of size -- massive !
